Are You Getting Lots Of Auto-Dial Phone Calls? Here's What To Do

by Lewis Hamilton

If you've been getting a lot of unsolicited phone calls from telemarketers, you're not alone. In recent years, there's been a dramatic increase in the number of complaints about auto-dialer calls.

Unfortunately, many of these calls are from scammers who are trying to get your personal information or trick you into giving them money. But even if the call is from a legitimate company, it can be extremely annoying.

If you're getting frequent calls from an auto-dialer, there are a few things you can do. You may even pursue legal options.

Block the Phone Number

First, you can try to block the number. Unfortunately, many scammers use "spoofed" numbers, which means they use a fake number that's hard to trace. But if you're getting calls from a real company, you may be able to block the number.

Of course, blocking the number is often not enough, even if you're dealing with a real telemarketer. Auto-dialers can still call from different numbers, which can be frustrating.

Send a Cease and Desist Letter

Another option is to send a cease and desist letter. This is a formal request that the caller stops contacting you. It's important to note that this only works if you're dealing with a real company. Scammers will likely ignore the letter, and they can be much more difficult to stop.

If the caller is a real company, they're legally required to stop calling you if you send them a cease and desist letter. However, many companies ignore these letters, so it's not a guarantee that the calls will stop. You may need to pursue further action.

File a Complaint With the FTC

You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The FTC is the main agency that regulates telemarketers. If you file a complaint, the FTC will investigate and take action if necessary. This may be useful for shutting down the calls for a variety of harassment victims.

Talk to a Telemarketer Harassment Lawyer

Finally, you may want to talk to a telemarketer harassment lawyer. If you're being harassed by telemarketers, you may be able to take legal action. A lawyer can help you understand your rights and options. For instance, you may be able to sue the company for infringing on your rights.

If you're being harassed by telemarketers, don't hesitate to seek help. Thousands of people are harassed each day, and many do not realize that they have the right to pursue legal recourse.
